basking

June has ... well .... sucked ... in terms of artistic productivity. Too many other things to do, unfortunately. So I am catching up, again.
There is something about the basking cats that pleases. I think it may just be the long deflated shapes, like the warm air and warm pavement has almost sucked all the life out of the creatures. And the atmosphere is one of complete contentment. They just sink into their surroundings completely; they do not stir when feet pass by closely; they don't respond to sound. I have had to look closely to make sure they are breathing.

First Temple to the Mundane

This is the first of many ... as usual. I have worked through several designs and I think this is the material and size with which I will continue. They are modeled after portable temples I saw at the Asian Art Museum in Seattle. This particular temple is to my son's tooth, which was the first he was to loose ... just another small moment.
