On the suggestion of a few friends, I have tried the deconstruction procedure I use on mold on a weevil. I have the same issue here that I do with the mold. It is hard, no matter what art speak I use to justify my actions, to see this process as anything but a gimmick. Though on the other hand, it is hard to see a simple good shot of an insect as anything but banal. This is where all that training just gets in the way. Without it, I would just take photos. Instead, I need to do more than that and give reason to it.
